Cycling to Norikura Skyline from Hirayu Onsen
Norikura Skyline, also known as bicyclists’ gate to heaven, is Japan’s highest mountain road, offering a breathtaking journey through the heart of the Japanese Alps. As you ascend, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, lush alpine meadows, and pristine valleys.
The road is closed to private cars, so visitors can enjoy the serene beauty of the landscape all to themselves. Norikura Skyline can only be accessed by bicycle or limited local buses.
With Okuhida Base’s rental bicycles, you can reach the summit within 2 1/2 hours. Our store is conveniently located next to Hirayu Bus Terminal and the entrance to Mount Norikura.
